first 2.6 miles were a full blown sub BQ pace, Finished in 17 minutes. Slowed down for the 2nd half but still finished around 38 minutes total for the entire 5.2 miles. Definitely a strong run, but my knee was hurting afterwards.
5 fast miles on the trail, working on speed, left knee a little unhappy. Decided I'm going to get on the elliptical at the gym for the next 2 weeks. This knee twist is not going away and at this point im better off losing 2 weeks than going into the marathon with an injury.
5 mile hike with my girlfriend, Kristy. Rugged, hilly, terrain, good exercise. Knee was of course not complaining at all. Out and exposed for about 2 hours, got a good workout in through it, even if it wasn't a run.
1.5 Miles on an elliptical at the gym. Resistance of 15, which basically felt like going up a pretty steep incline. Had a heart rate of 180 for 15 minutes, burned 200 calories. Would have liked to go a full 20 - 30 minutes at that rate. Was definitely a good workout and a suitable substitute for not running, though I need to put in more time on it.
At the gym for 2 hours. 1.5 hours doing stomach and bicep/triceps, then 30 minutes on an elliptical with an average heart rate of 167, and max around 180. Got a good sweat going, felt like running uphill the whole time. The elliptical is definitely a good substitute while my knee gets better. Wish I could do it without getting bored to tears.
5 miles on the elliptical in 42 minutes. Average heart rate was about 180. Definitely doing V02 max training. Felt pretty strong the whole time as well. Hips get a little sore on the elliptical on a resistance level of 18, which was basically like running up a mountain. Felt good about this though. Feeling like my endurance and stamina is still strong, as well as my speed. I think I'm settling into where I think I need to be to qualify for Boston again.
Burned 700 calories in only 42 minutes as well, not bad.
Weighed 157.5, down 4 lbs since last week, and not bad considering I pigged out this weekend. Should be able to get below 150 within 2 weeks.
1 full hour on the elliptical after a bunch of situps and stomach exercises.
average heart rate was at 170, highs were around 185. Got in quite a good run and burned a lot of fat and sweated a lot. weighed 2 lbs less than when i came in.
Nearly my marathon weight goal of 145. Feeling pretty confident that I will be ready to qualify, as long as my knee doesn't complain.
5 miles on the trail. First time in 2 weeks. 3 miles at marathon pace and 2 at about an 8:00/mi pace. Seems like I have the fitness to run a sub 7:00/mi pace for at least 8 - 13 miles.
My knee wasn't happy, but it was better than it was last time I ran out on the trail, so that's an improvement. Hoping that it can stay manageable for the marathon. I will be back to the elliptical until the week before the marathon and hoping that gives me close enough time for a full recovery and pain free marathon. I am looking into seeing a Physical Therapist as well to help speed the recovery.
